How do I use VIVE Wrist Tracker with VIVE Focus 3 for PC VR apps?

You can use VIVE Wrist Tracker with VIVE Focus 3 by using VIVE Business Streaming. The VIVE Wrist Tracker can be used two ways.

Mode	Description
Enhance hand tracking	Wear VIVE Wrist Tracker on a person's wrist to improve hand tracking accuracy. Use the VIVE Wrist Tracker button to open the menu for an app. VIVE Wrist Tracker is not tracked by SteamVR .
Tracked object	VIVE Wrist Tracker is tracked as an object by SteamVR . You'll see the VIVE Wrist Tracker icon in the SteamVR window. VIVE Wrist Tracker can be mounted on an object and VIVE Business Streaming will pass the object input data from the VIVE Wrist Tracker USB port to the PC VR app.

How do I set VIVE Wrist Tracker options?

You can set VIVE Wrist Tracker options on VIVE Business Streaming.

On your computer, open the VIVE Business Streaming settings.
Click Preferences.
Under Tracking, you can set the following:

Option	Description
Use VIVE Wrist Tracker for hand tracking is selected	VIVE Wrist Tracker will be used to enhance hand tracking accuracy and won't be tracked as an object by SteamVR .
Use VIVE Wrist Tracker for hand tracking is not selected	VIVE Wrist Tracker is tracked as an object by SteamVR and you'll see the VIVE Wrist Tracker icon in the SteamVR window. VIVE Business Streaming will emulate as VIVE Wrist Tracker to SteamVR.
Emulate VIVE Wrist Tracker as VIVE Tracker is selected	VIVE Business Streaming will emulate VIVE Wrist Tracker as VIVE Tracker to PC VR apps. Existing PC VR apps that support VIVE Tracker should be able to run seamlessly with VIVE Wrist Tracker over VIVE Business Streaming. Mounting of the VIVE Wrist Tracker will need to be changed as VIVE Wrist Tracker dimensions are different from VIVE Tracker . With the physical dimensions different, the poses will be different as well.
Emulate VIVE Wrist Tracker as VIVE Tracker is not selected	VIVE Business Streaming reports VIVE Wrist Tracker as a standalone tracked object to SteamVR. Most apps that support VIVE Tracker will still work.

VIVE Wrist Tracker button events and USB data

Take note of these for the Emulate VIVE Wrist Tracker as VIVE Tracker option.

VIVE Wrist Tracker input binding file is the same as VIVE Tracker .
Apps cannot receive USB data in raw format. VIVE Business Streaming will translate to input events and sent as “‍tracked object” to apps.

VIVE Wrist Tracker input binding file is different with VIVE Tracker .
Apps can receive USB data in raw format using the OpenVR IVRIOBuffer interface . VIVE Business Streaming will change the data.
Left tracker device name: vive/trkerex/left
Right tracker device name: vive/trkerex/right

OpenXR developers

XR_HTCX_vive_tracker_interaction extension is supported.
Emulate VIVE Wrist Tracker as VIVE Tracker option in the VIVE Business Streaming settings must be selected.
Note: OpenXR XR_HTC_vive_wrist_tracker_interaction extension is currently not supported.
